琵琶Maleki, President and CEO
琵琶Malekiis a Founder, and President and CEO of OEwaves, Inc. The Company is focused on the development of advanced sensors and communication components and systems based on microwave photonics technologies for Department of Defense and other government and commercial customers. Before re-joining OEwaves in April 2020, he was at GM/Cruise Automation, responsible for the development of LiDAR for autonomous navigation. Prior to that, he was at OEwaves serving as President and CEO. In 2014, he co-founded and served as the CTO of Strobe, a LiDAR company spun out of OEwaves and acquired by GM/Cruise in 2017. Prior to joining OEwaves, Lute was a Senior Research Scientist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) where he created and led the Quantum Sciences and Technologies Group. His technical areas of interest at JPL included development of atomic clocks based on ion traps and laser cooled trapped atoms; ultra-stable photonic oscillators; the opto-electronic oscillator (OEO); photonic signal distribution systems; study and development of whispering gallery mode micro-resonators and their applications; development of sensors based on atom wave interferometers; and tests of fundamental physics with atomic clocks. He is an inventor of over 65 U.S. Patents and applications, and has authored and co-authored over 130 refereed publications, and over 200 conference proceedings. Dr. Maleki is a Fellow of IEEE, a Fellow of the American Physical Society, and a Fellow of the Optical Society of America. He holds B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Physics. He received the IEEE Rabi Award, IEEE Sawyer Award and NASA’s Exceptional Engineering Achievement Medal for the development of the Trapped Ion Frequency Standard.
Dr. Andrey Matsko joined OEwaves in 2007 from Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and is responsible for supporting and managing OEwaves multi-million dollar R&D Government Contracts awards. Dr. Matsko brings to the company his extensive expertise in electro-optical modulator, RF photonic receiver, optical and RF filter, delay line, clock, magnetometer, gyroscope, oscillator and laser technologies based on crystalline whispering gallery mode resonators. He holds more than 40 US Patents in these areas and as a result received multiple awards, most notably from Jet Propulsion Laboratory the 2005 JPLs Lew Allen Award for Excellence "For seminal and unique theoretical contributions in quantum optics, in particular, the nonlinear interactions of optical crystalline whispering gallery mode resonators, leading to the establishment of this new area of research at JPL". Dr. Matsko is also the recipient of the 2007 NASA Space Act Award in recognition of contributions to the National Space Program and the mission of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Dr. Matsko is a Fellow of OSA as well as Senior Member of IEEE and SPIE.
Anatoliy Savchenkov, Chief Scientist
Dr. Anatoliy Savchenkov joined OEwaves in 2007 from Jet Propulsion (JPL), Caltech, bringing to OEwaves over 20 years of unique hands-on experience in research and development in whispering gallery mode (WGM) resonators and other fields of optics and photonics. His current efforts have focused on the research and development of novel systems including optical and RF photonic filters, modulators, oscillators, lasers, and sensors. Dr. Savchenkov scientific research in material physics and nonlinear optics resulted in more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles and 50 US Patents.
